More than ever before is the history of bioplastic focused on the future: the development margins in the sector are indeed huge and for the most part still unexplored.
Still, almost forty years have elapsed since the term “bioplastic” found its way into our languages.
The first thorough research to develop low environmental impact chemical products started more recently, between the 80s and 90s.
In a few years the development reached staggering levels: European Bioplastics data, devised in bundle with the Hanover University Bioplastic and Biocomposites Institute, expect a worldwide increase in the order of 500% by 2016 as compared with the production levels of only five years before (from 1.16 to 5.78 million tons).
